Electric Vehicles are in your Future – Learn the Basics

Sunday, September 19, 2021
3 PM to 5 PM
Newburyport Senior/Community Center

331 High St
Newburyport, MA

Many automobile manufacturers both in the US and abroad are moving toward electrifying their vehicles to help address the climate change challenge.

Join the Time Trade Network of Greater Newburyport (TTNGN) and the Council on Aging to learn the basics of electric vehicles from TTNGN members who currently own all-electric and/or plug-in electric hybrid vehicles.

There will be several electric vehicles on display and the Senior Community Center has two electric chargers which will be demonstrated as part of the program.

“Time As Money” Free Documentary Screening

The Time Trade Network of Greater Newburyport (TTNGN) invites everyone to share in celebrating our 5th Anniversary with a free screening of the documentary “Time As Money.” The documentary focuses on several timebanks, how they work, the types of services that are exchanged, and how they affect members’ lives. Here’s a preview:

TTNGN launched in October 2014, one of over 300 timebanks in the US formed to build stronger communities by developing networks of reciprocal, skill-sharing relationships. An hour of time assisting another member earns an hour to be used to get a needed service from any other member. Our purpose is to build a community of individuals willing to help one another. Our premise is that everyone has something to offer and everyone’s time is equally valuable, whether you’re a computer whiz, seamstress, jeweler, tutor or dog walker. An hour is an hour!

Currently, TTNGN has 115 members and over 4000 hours exchanged. The popular Repair Café Newburyport (pictured above) is a TTNGN project, in partnership with Toward Zero Waste Newburyport.

If you’re interested and intrigued by the time-banking concept, come and watch the film, learn how it works, and ask questions of current TTNGN members. Celebrate our anniversary in the community with cake and conversation.
